Mr Ssinging - 1
The story begins on Sunday Feb 18 2001, when I got the following mail:
Hi, I loved your song! Please listen to my song called "You Make Me Smile (I Want You to Know)" at http://www.mp3.com/deanstrickland You'll love it I promise!
Thank you, Dean
deanssinging@yahoo.com
What I liked about this was not just that he didn't even bother to pretend it was a personal message - neither a song nor even the group name are mentioned - most of all, I liked the way it was so short. Here was a man clearly emailing about 10 000 groups, and wasn't going to bother being polite to any of them. But the Coronets don't let potential mates go that easily.
Dear Mr Ssinging
Many thanks for your mail - I'm so pleased that you liked our song! It sounds as though you are truly familiar with the work of the CORONETS so I look forward to your detailed analysis.
In the meantime, I checked out your song and I thought it was little short of magnificent. It sounds as though it was done professionally: I LOVED the production and the lyrics hit me RIGHT WHERE IT HURTS - IN THE EYE. Only one problem - not long enough! Your many fans need more ssinging soon.
Take care, and even if you forget your mothers birthday, for heaven's sake, DON'T forget to KEEP IT REAL

ps - what an interesting name - finnish I think? Your english is very good in any case - well done! Though I noticed a few double spaces along the way.
Hmmm
Now, the Coronets don't like to rush people into replying. But even we were disappointed when it took him thirteen months to reply.
Hi,
I'm in Hollywood, California I'm registered as a student at Musicians Institute. Please add my songs to your station?
Thanks,
Dean
This time, as you can see, he recognised that as our mate, he doesn't need to falsely compliment our work - and we thank him for that. Indeed, he doesn't mention the email I sent him at all, almost as if he was embarrassed by the long delay. We at the Coronets however believe in getting these things out in the open:
WHOOOO! YEah! It's great to hear from you after all this time man! I thought you forgot me!
Thanks for getting back in touch - one comment on your last mail - you don't give no address to find your songs? ARE YOU CRAZY???
Luckily big fans of the ssinging know it off by heart - http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/283/deanstrickland.html - I wrote it on my foot.
Seriously dean - what can I say, but I LOVE YOUR WORK. You can be big. You are bigger than this. You are bigger than me. I'm 5 foot 3.
Thanks for the memories Dean, and thanks, once more, for the ssinging
